Joe Murphy has been a cyclist for 20 years and competes in track and road racing. He has been a USCF (United States Cycling Federation) member since 1999 and raced for Team Bikeline from the year 2000 until 2015. This past season, 2018, Joe participated in Master Track Nationals at the Valley Preferred Cycling in Trexlertown, Pennsylvania with Team Carbon Footprint where they placed 4th in the Team Pursuit and 7th in the Team Sprint races. This upcoming season Joe will be racing for Team Countless Courage!
Cycling is something Joe took up after years of playing basketball in high school and at the college level. He needed something to keep in shape and quickly fell in love with the sport. His preferred discipline is on the track which is an exciting race that is done on a velodrome, an oval course with banked turns. When races take place on the velodrome, the bicycles have no brakes and only one gear. In Joe's words, "It is like NASCAR on bicycles!"
